Thunder Team Report (Yahoo! Sports)
December 31, 2008
Trade rumors are inevitable for a team out of the playoff race and building for the future. With the worst record in the NBA and one of the lowest payrolls, a number of Thunder players can expect to hear their names bandied about leading up to the trade deadline.
Among those who figure to be targeted: Joe Smith, Nick Collison, Chris Wilcox, Earl Watson, Desmond Mason and Damien Wilkins. Each is considered a solid veteran with a manageable contract.
“I just learned through the years to deal with the situation at hand,” Smith said. “Whatever team you’re on, you’re still going to war with those guys. Whatever happens, happens.”
Thunder players are trying not to pay attention to the speculation.

Because Krstic was a restricted free agent, the New Jersey Nets had a week to match Oklahoma City’s offer sheet to Krstic, a 7-footer who was picked 24th overall in…

Shaq still a scorer, Iverson doesn’t need to be (AP)
December 30, 2008
Shaquille O’Neal insists he is still a scorer. Allen Iverson is finding he no longer needs to be. Both ways worked for them Monday night. O’Neal had 28 points and 12 rebounds, and the Suns overcame the loss of Steve Nash to beat the Oklahoma City Thunder 110-102. Nash played only 9 minutes before his back spasms struck and Amare Stoudemire was hounded by foul trouble, so the Suns turned to O’Neal,…

Thunder-Wizards combine to make worst matchup ever (AP)

NBA history was made on Saturday night, but not the kind the Oklahoma City Thunder and Washington Wizards wanted. The Thunder entered with an NBA-worst 3-27 record, with the Wizards at 4-23. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, there had never been an NBA game matching teams with individually lower winning percentages — .100 for Oklahoma City and .148 for Washington — and each squad having…
