The Philadelphia 76ers expended quite a bit of energy in overcoming a 26-point deficit in their victory at Indiana. Yet they still had plenty of pep one night later. Thaddeus Young scored 23 points, Elton Brand and Andre Iguodala added 15 apiece, and the 76ers cruised past the struggling Oklahoma City Thunder, 110-85 on Saturday.

In this Nov. 12, 2008 photo, Oklahoma Thunder forward D.J. White, right, sits at the end of the bench during an NBA basketball game against the Orlando Magic in Oklahoma City. White's rookie season with the team was cut short when doctors discovered a growth on the left side of his jaw this preseason. It proved to be benign, but the surgery will still keep him out for most of his first year in the NBA. From left are Kyle Weaver, Nick Collison, Chris Wilcox and White.

D.J. White sat down in front of a group of about 200 children this week to read them a book and encourage them to read. If he couldn’t make the kind of impact he’d hoped to have on the basketball court this season, he at least could contribute in another way. White’s rookie season with the Oklahoma City Thunder was cut short when doctors discovered a growth on the left side of his jaw this…

Crawford, Randolph help Knicks hold off Thunder (AP)

November 15, 2008

What appeared to be a second straight lopsided victory nearly turned into one of the biggest collapses in franchise history. When the roller-coaster was over, the New York Knicks were off to their best start in a decade. Jamal Crawford and Zach Randolph each scored 29 points, combining for 10 in the final 4 minutes after New York had blown most of a 30-point lead, and the Knicks held on to beat the…

Even after his latest feat made his nickname a little outdated, Dwight Howard doesn’t mind if people still call him “The Daily Double.” Howard recorded his first career triple-double with 30 points, 19 rebounds and 10 blocks Wednesday night and the Orlando Magic beat the Oklahoma City Thunder 109-92.

Former Sonic Lewis will miss trips to Seattle (AP)

Rashard Lewis remembers fondly the last time he got to step off a plane in Seattle, drive down the same highways and past the same landmarks as he made his way to KeyArena. It’s a feeling he’ll miss this year after the NBA’s departure from the city where he says he went “from a boy to a man.” Lewis spent nine seasons in Seattle after getting drafted out of high school, but his time there ended in…

Ford’s double-double leads Pacers past Thunder (AP)

November 11, 2008

Indiana Pacers forward Danny Granger (33) is fouled by Oklahoma City Thunder guard Kevin Durant as he shoots in the second half of NBA basketball game in Indianapolis, Monday, Nov. 10, 2008. The Pacers defeated the Thunder 107-99.

With a little more height and a bit of luck, T.J. Ford might have had back-to-back triple-doubles. His 6-foot frame left him a bit short on rebounds in both games, but he’s fine with it because the Pacers won each time. Ford had 24 points, 10 assists and seven rebounds on Monday night to help Indiana beat the Oklahoma City Thunder 107-99.
